I put these on my JD GT262, They hold the chains pretty tight, like they should. You go have to be strong enough to stretch the spring so the hooks will reach the chains. One there they hold tight. I put them to the test when I pulled some tree trunk sections out of the woods. The tires really dug in, and the tighteners kept the chains in place.
